Atlanta Hawks

The Atlanta Hawks might be able to take a step forward next season if they acquire Gordon Hayward. There is a real need for more established veteran contributors and the trade for Clint Capela started that process, but more is needed.

The Hawks are led by Trae Young, and they have John Collins as well, although a decision will need to be made on Collins relatively soon. Atlanta can add a proven veteran who can help put them into playoff contention if he’s healthy, in Hayward.

The knock on Hayward since he joined Boston has been his inability to stay on the floor. Hayward suffered a gruesome ankle injury in his first game with Boston, and he’s dealt with various others as well.

When Hayward is healthy, he’s still an impact player in the NBA and he could be in Atlanta. The Hawks need a veteran such as Hayward if they’re going to take the next step, and this could be a good fit for both parties.
