The optics of a Rockets-Spurs trade might seem odd. But the Spurs don’t seem to have a need for Aldridge as they enter a rebuild.
Conversely, the Houston Rockets would be an interesting fit for Aldridge, who is entering the final year of his currrent contract.
Aldridge told NBA.com earlier this year that he’d be open to ending his career in Portland, but if not, he’d prefer to remain in San Antonio.
A trade to the Rockets would at least keep him in Texas, and he’d have a better chance to compete in the NBA playoffs with the Rockets than he will with the Spurs.
