76ers Receive: J.J. Redick, Darius Miller, Nicolo Melli
Pelicans Receive: Al Horford, Furkan Korkmaz, 2020 first-round pick (No. 21 overall)
Who could possibly say no to this one? Redick was a fan favorite during his time with the 76ers. He was a huge leader on and off the floor. Redick has been one of the best shooters in the league during his generation and that is something the 76ers desperately need.
The New Orleans Pelicans are looking to get younger and Redick does not fit that bill. Neither does Horford, but at least he is a big man. New Orleans has plenty of options on the perimeter with Brandon Ingram, Lonzo Ball, and Jrue Holiday.
As for the draft pick, it will take some doing for the 76ers to trade Horford. This is an extremely undesirable contract and it could warrant a 1st rounder.
This is a deal that works well for the 76ers. They will get their three-point threat back while dumping Horford. Redick was an incredible fit for this team when he was there and there’s little reason to believe it would be any different a second time around.
