Why This Trade Makes Sense For The Warriors
Finally, the Warriors fans may be scratching their heads about this one a bit. Gordon Hayward coming back from the Celtics and being the focal point of this deal for Golden State doesn’t fill a massive need, but he would replace Andrew Wiggins with a much better all-around fit.
Moving the No. 2 overall pick in the 2020 NBA Draft has been something the Warriors have been interested in over the last couple of weeks. While they would move the pick, they would be getting back the No. 5 overall pick, which would still allow them to bring in a talented young player.
Both Larry Nance Jr. and Enes Kanter would provide depth in the front-court for the Warriors. Nance is an athletic big who showed signs of being a solid piece for the Cavaliers and Kanter can rebound decently.
Granted, the Warriors would not be receiving a rim protector in this deal. That is something they could really use, especially when going up against LeBron James and the Los Angeles Lakers.
With all of that being said, the Warriors should still do this trade if it comes up. They add quality depth and Hayward could be a perfect fit at small forward alongside Stephen Curry and Klay Thompson.
