Minnesota Timberwolves
If the Phoenix Suns are going to entertain a trade of Booker, their first call should be to Minnesota. The narrative around this draft is that there is not a clear-cut No. 1 pick, and from reading mock drafts, that appears to be true.
That being said, possessing the No. 1 pick is still operating from a position of strength. Just because the Suns wouldn’t be able to land a LeBron James or Anthony Davis type of consensus No. 1 prospect doesn’t mean there’s no advantage to picking No. 1.
And Booker, as we know, is extremely close to both Karl Anthony-Towns and D’Angelo Russell. The three played AAU together, and when they covered SLAM magazine last year, Russell said: “We got to do this again, when we’re all on the same team.”
It was great foresight by Russell, who was still on the Warriors at the time. He’d eventually be traded to Minnesota in a package for Andrew Wiggins, pairing Russell with Towns. As far as the trio goes, Booker is the last remaining missing piece.
