Golden State Warriors are the perfect fit for Jrue Holiday trade

The Golden State Warriors are going to be a team to keep a close eye on this offseason. Over the last couple of weeks, they have been mentioned as a landing spot for quite a few players. One of those players is New Orleans Pelicans star point guard Jrue Holiday.

Holiday would be a very intriguing fit for the Warriors. They already have Stephen Curry and Klay Thompson. Could they acquire Holiday and move Thompson to the small forward position?

It could be an intriguing fit. Thompson is a capable perimeter defender and would be able to stick with most opposing small forwards. Holiday would add another elite perimeter defender for the Warriors.

CBS Sports certainly thinks that the Warriors are a favorite to end up acquiring Holiday. Here is a brief breakdown they gave for the potential move.

It’s highly unlikely that any other contender offers a rebuilding asset as valuable as the No. 2 overall pick, even with the harmful contract of Andrew Wiggins attached.

If the Warriors are desperate to deal now, Holiday is the best player they can get. If they choose to wait out the Bradley Beal situation? New Orleans loses its best theoretical offer.

During the 2019-20 NBA season with the Pelicans, Holiday ended up averaging 19.1 points, 6.7 assists, and 4.8 rebounds per game. He shot 45.5 percent from the floor overall and knocked down 35.3 percent of his three-point attempts.

At 30 years old, Holiday is entering the final stages of his prime. He has another three years or so of being an elite star. If the Warriors want to make a big-time move, Holiday would be the right kind of player as well as the perfect timing in his career.

Golden State may choose to pass on the opportunity to pursue Jrue Holiday. However, at this point in time, they are a team to keep a close eye on.

Expect to hear a lot more rumors come out in the near future surrounding both the Warriors and the Pelicans. Holiday seems likely to be traded this offseason and Golden State would be a perfect potential landing spot.
