Brooklyn Nets
Nets Receive: Chris Paul
Thunder Receive: Caris LeVert, Spencer Dinwiddie, Taurean Prince, 2020 1st Round Pick (via PHI)
Another team that could be looking to create a “Big Three” this offseason is the Nets. After adding both Kyrie Irving and Kevin Durant last offseason in NBA free agency, a trade for Chris Paul would absolutely accomplish that goal.
A back-court of Paul and Irving would be very intriguing. Both players like to have the ball in their hands, which could cause an issue. Paul and Irving would have to take a step back to work together.
This potential trade destination makes the least sense of the three listed so far. Paul would be much better served going to a place where he can be the obvious point guard and ball-handler.
Not only do the Nets have Irving who likes the ball being in his hands, Durant is a top-notch ISO player as well. He will have the ball quite often. That leaves Paul with even less value and even less of a role.
Star power is obviously important, but this deal doesn’t make a ton of sense. The Nets give up a ton of depth for a player that might not fit in at all.
