Los Angeles Lakers
Lakers Receive: Chris Paul
Thunder Receive: Kyle Kuzma, Danny Green, Quinn Cook, JaVale McGee, 2020 1st Round, 2022 1st Round
LeBron James and Anthony Davis are still fresh off of leading the Lakers to a huge NBA Finals win over the Miami Heat. Moving ahead into the offseason, L.A. will be looking to add even more talent and possibly even add a third star to create a “Big Three.”
Paul would be able to come in and fill a very important role as the starting point guard. He would help take pressure off of James.
If the Lakers want to add a star, a trade with the Thunder for Paul seems like the best bet. He is friends with James and is not the kind of player that has to shoot the ball at a high level. Paul would not take shots away from Davis and James, but could actually put them in better positions.
Add in the fact that he is an elite perimeter defender and the Lakers’ interest makes even more sense.
Only time will tell if the Lakers actually end up pursuing a trade for Chris Paul. It would make sense, but giving up so much value would be a steep price to pay.
