The action of the NBA offseason is set to soon unfold. Much of the attention will be placed on both the Golden State Warriors and Milwaukee Bucks— along with Giannis Antetokounmpo.
According to Ashley Nicole of iHeart Radio, the Golden State Warriors have prepared a ‘very intriguing’ trade package for the Milwaukee Bucks in an effort to land Giannis Antetokounmpo. Andrew Wiggins is reportedly included in this package.
It has become quite clear that Giannis Antetokounmpo is in need of a fellow superstar in order to make it all the way to the NBA Finals. There just isn’t enough playmaking firepower on the Bucks’ roster. Milwaukee doesn’t appear willing to trade for Chris Paul to add a talent of that level.
With the Warriors, there would be little concern about Antetokounmpo not having enough help. The two-time MVP teaming up with the best perimeter shooting backcourt in NBA history would be an incredible sight to behold.
The defensive capabilities would be intriguing for the Warriors with Antetokounmpo, too. Assuming Draymond Green would not be included in a potential trade package, Golden State’s imapct on that end would be sensational.
It would still be more than worthwhile for the Warriors to pull off such a trade even without an agreement from Antetokounmpo on a contract extension. It would be reminiscent of the Toronto Raptors taking a swing for the fences with Kawhi Leonard, but on a greater scale.
If the Milwaukee Bucks do not believe Giannis Antetokounmpo intends to stay beyond his current contract, it’s worthwhile to get value while they can. Their most recent shortcoming was concerning and it’s worth questioning if it’s possible to win it all there.
