Why the 76ers Should Do It

This trade would reunite Paul George with Rivers, just in Philadelphia rather than Los Angeles.

Rivers has the added benefit of already being familiar with George, and conversely, George surely knows what Rivers would expect of him.

But the Sixers should do a trade along these lines mostly if Rivers and Morey believe the issues that have plagued Philadelphia over the last few years are irreparable in its current state.

If Morey doesn’t think Embiid and Ben Simmons can bring Philly a winner, then he owes it to the fans to shake things up. Even if that means parting with the former No. 1 pick.

George’s stock is undoubtedly lower than it was in July, 2019, when the Clippers acquired him. That being said, George is still a six-time All Star, who spent the first seven years of his career in the East.

If he’s going to regain his previous form, it might be easier out of the bright lights of Los Angeles.
