Why It Makes Sense For The Boston Celtics

Kemba Walker was the third option for the Boston Celtics this season. Jayson Tatum is becoming one of the best players in the league and Jaylen Brown is right behind him in terms of scoring options for the Celtics. Walker is a score-first guard and that does not fit well— Paul is not.

During Paul’s time with the Thunder, he showed his ability to score from the mid-range and in the floater game, but that is not what he has to rely on to make a major impact for his team.

Paul is a true floor general with elite passing ability who can run an offense and serve as a coach on the floor. Boston would not have to worry about their offense running smoothly with Paul at the helm. He brings toughness on both ends.

If the Celtics are serious about winning now, this is a move that would help a lot, after acquiring an option down low. The fact remains that Paul is a better fit than Walker.
