Atlanta Hawks Receive: Jrue Holiday

New Orleans Pelicans Receive: No. 6 Pick, Cam Reddish, Dewayne Dedmon

There is a clear need for the Atlanta Hawks to improve defensively, particularly in the on-ball department. Trae Young needs a backcourt partner that can take on the toughest opposing guard assignment and Jrue Holiday would certainly get that done.

The Hawks would also benefit from having another viable guard scorer to take pressure off Young. Atlanta wouldn’t be receiving elite-level impact from Holiday in that area, but he is certainly a formidable contributor.

The Pelicans would be able to shed serious salary cap spending by trading Holiday in exchange for the No. 6 pick. New Orleans would also be able to add a prospect that better fits the timeline of Zion Williamson.

It’s a worthwhile risk for the Pelicans to bring in Williamson’s former teammate at Duke, Cam Reddish, to see if he can develop on the wing. New Orleans could field some intriguing lineup combinations if that were to pan out over time.
