Why the Bulls Should Do It
From Chicago’s point of view, this deal is interesting for a number of reasons.
It may seem like they’re giving up on LaVine too early, but if Donovan and Karnisovas have other plans at shooting guard, this could make sense.
The Bulls would land Jackson Jr. as the headliner. The 21 year old made an impressive jump in year two, as he averaged 17.4 points, with a 57% eFG%.
He mostly played center last season after playing the four as a rookie two years ago, so he brings some versatility as well.
Brooks, 24, returned to full strength last season, and it showed. After missing the majority of 2018-19 due to toe surgery, he bounced back last season with a career-high 16.2 points per game in 73 games.
Brooks is a high-energy player who should continue to improve the more he plays.
Both Kris Dunn and Denzel Valentine can reach free agency this offseason, and Brooks’ ability to play both small forward or shooting guard could help Chicago.
