4. Jalen Smith, NBA Draft

If the Celtics do not look to free agency or a trade to upgrade the center position, then the next best thing is the NBA Draft. Maryland’s Jalen Smith would be an unbelievable land for the Celtics. And they might have two chances at it.

The Celtics currently hold the No. 14 pick in the draft from the Memphis Grizzlies, and their own at No. 26. Smith is projected to be a first-round pick, but could go anywhere from early teens to mid-20s.

Smith is an intriguing prospect. He has the ability to put the ball on the floor and has a nice looking mid-range jump shot. He stands at 6-foot-10, which gives him the size to compete at the rim.

Brad Stevens would like to have a player like Smith in his rotation. The Celtics have two first-round picks and if Smith is there, he could easily be one of them.
