3 trade packages that send Pistons’ Blake Griffin to Timberwolves

The Minnesota Timberwolves are in for an exciting offseason, as the team won the No. 1 pick in the lottery. But Minnesota will also have options in the trade market as well, as the Timberwolves have a number of tradable assets. Could the Wolves swing a deal with the Detroit Pistons for Blake Griffin to pair him with Karl-Anthony Towns in the front court?

Griffin, the former No. 1 overall pick, has often been injured in his career, and he dealt with a knee injury in 2019-20.

But he’s expected to return at full strength next season, and could make a lot of sense for a contender such as Minnesota. When Griffin’s healthy, he’d be an incredibly fun pairing alongside Towns in the paint.

Before we get into the three hypotheticals, a word on Griffin’s contract: Any team acquiring him would have to give up a large contract in return to match his $36 million salary, and Minnesota has a few options to do so.

Here are three trade packages that could send Blake Griffin from the Pistons to the Timberwolves.
