Dallas Mavericks Star Trade Target No. 5 — Chris Paul

Chris Paul led an Oklahoma City Thunder team that was supposed to land a top draft pick to the postseason in 2020. The 35-year old point guard was named an All-Star for the 10th time after averaging 17.6 points, 5.0 rebounds, and 6.7 assists. Moving forward, he is owed a ton of money and the Thunder could look to move him.

Adding Paul this offseason would give the Mavericks a win-now feel. He is a veteran presence who could lead Dallas on and off the court. Coming off a productive season, it is clear that Paul has plenty left in the tank.

The only issue would be that of his contract. Paul is owed $41 million next season and upwards of $44 million in 2021-2022. This is a hefty price tag but Paul would immediately help a team looking to get over the hump.

It is unlikely that the Mavericks make a move for Paul but it is one they should consider if they can afford. Having Paul handle the ball and run an offense with Doncic and Porzingis would be lethal.
