Trade Package No. 2

Nuggets acquire Paul George

Clippers acquire Jerami Grant*, Gary Harris, 2020 first round pick (via Houston)

In this next hypothetical, the Nuggets part with Harris and Houston’s first round pick, but they also deal Jerami Grant. The inclusion of Grant is especially hypothetical, because he holds a player option this offseason and could elect free agency.

This might be a deal the Clippers like, as Grant is an intriguing young player who has yet to reach his ceiling at 26.

But Grant’s option is worth $9.3 million, so he could very well turn it down and seek a better deal as a free agent. But if the Nuggets want to acquire Paul, this could be one way.

We didn’t discuss the first round pick at length in the last slide, so let’s address it now. Los Angeles does not have complete control over its own first round pick until 2027. That’s well established by now, but it’s worth mentioning in the context of any Clippers trade.

With that in mind, No. 22 this year is much better than nothing at all in the draft.
