Why the Celtics Should Do It
Boston made a prudent signing when the Celtics lured Kemba Walker away from the Hornets.
However, the Celtics still came up short of their ultimate goal in 2020, and the NBA is a result-oriented business.
If the Celtics feel the need to make changes, Middleton could be an excellent veteran addition to their young core of Tatum and Brown.
Middleton, 29, is a two-time All Star who has spent his entire eight-year career in the Eastern Conference. He could step in for the Celtics and ideally, Boston wouldn’t miss a beat next season.
Middleton is under contract through 2023-24, and he can reach free agency in 2024 at 33 years old.
This is a trade that could make sense for both teams, as the Celtics and Bucks each may need to retool slightly before next season.
