Trade Package #2

Pacers acquire Gordon Hayward, 2020 first round pick

Celtics acquire Myles Turner, Jeremy Lamb

The next hypothetical between these teams sees Indiana acquire Hayward and Boston’s first round pick in next month’s draft, in exchange for Myles Turner and Lamb.

As of this writing, the Pacers don’t have a first round pick, but even Boston’s late first round pick is better than no first round pick at all.

Boston has three first round picks, and a contender such as the Celtics likely won’t carry three first round picks on next year’s roster.

The Celtics hold picks No. 14 (via Memphis), No. 26 (own) and No. 30 (via Milwaukee). This hypothetical trade sees Indiana acquire Hayward, but they part with Turner to do so.

Turner would fill in as Boston’s starting center, and he’d be a size upgrade in the front court for the Celtics. Parting with one of their three first-rounders wouldn’t seem to be a deal-breaker for the Celtics, especially if it’s a late round selection.

This deal would allow the Pacers to get into the first round, while also adding Hayward for 2020-21.
