Why This Trade Makes Sense For The Bucks
JJ Redick is the kind of piece that the Bucks were missing this year. Milwaukee needs to find a way to stretch the floor around Giannis Antetokounmpo. They also need more veteran players who know how to win in the playoffs.
Even though Redick may not be as athletic as he once was, he can still shoot the ball at an impressive clip. Being able to acquire him for a late first-round pick and two players who won’t help the Bucks win much would be a big win.
Adding more shooting around Antetokounmpo will force opposing defenses to pick their poison. If they continue to stack the paint and take away the offense for Giannis, a simple kick-out to Redick will result in three points often.
During the playoffs, it was apparent that the Bucks missed Malcolm Brogdon. Even though Brogdon was much more than a three-point shooter, his ability to knock down the perimeter shot was key. Milwaukee can help fix the mistake they made by letting Brogdon go by acquiring Redick.
It may not be the star that many are predicting the Bucks will pursue, but it is a step in the right direction. Redick should absolutely be a trade target for Milwaukee this offseason.
