Los Angeles Lakers Take A Gamble On Victor Oladipo
The Los Angeles Lakers successfully pulled off a championship run with LeBron James and Anthony Davis leading the way. In order to repeat, the reigning NBA champions may need to make an upgrade in their supporting cast.
Even with a lack of salary cap spending room, the Lakers likely could add a veteran contributor or two interested in being a member of a contending team. However, it won’t be able to land a talent with the potential to make a star level of impact.
The Lakers substantially depleted their future draft choices by trading for Davis and that proved to be clearly beyond worthwhile. However, it just limits what Los Angeles can do this offseason when it comes to make a big move, so it’s something to take into consideration.
A buy-low star talent like Victor Oladipo would be an intriguing option for the Lakers to pursue. He hasn’t reached pre-injury form, so his trade value is not great. Additionally, being on an expiring contract could prompt the Indiana Pacers to move him.
If Oladipo were to at least make strides in his road to recovering pre-injury form, the Lakers would have a talent they otherwise would not have been able add. It’s a worthwhile risk for Los Angeles to at least consider taking.
