Warriors favor taking James Wiseman over Anthony Edwards in 2020 NBA Draft

The Golden State Warriors will face an important decision when it comes to using the No. 2 pick in the 2020 NBA Draft. Among their options will include James Wiseman and Anthony Edwards, but who has the edge?

According to Jonathan Wasserman of Bleacher Report, there is more support for the idea of selecting James Wiseman with the No. 2 pick in. the2020 NBA Draft over Anthony Edwards.

“Odds are, the Warriors stay put despite all the trade chatter, and we’re hearing there is more support for James Wiseman than Anthony Edwards in Golden State’s front office,” Wasserman writes.

Wasserman added that other options in the 2020 NBA Draft including Deni Avdija, Obi Toppin, and Tyrese Haliburton ‘remain in play’ but are viewed as trade-down targets.

“Deni Avdija, Obi Toppin and Tyrese Haliburton figure to remain in play, but it’s presumed they’re more trade-down targets.”

Using the No. 2 selection on James Wiseman would feature the simplest immediate fit for the Warriors. He would add size at the center position and provide a play finishing and rim protection presence alongside Stephen Curry, Klay Thompson, and Draymond Green.

It could take time for Wiseman to get acclimated to the NBA level but it’s difficult to envision there being a better organization for him to begin his career. Playing with Green in the frontcourt will come with accountability and instruction on the court.

Regardless of the route the Golden State Warriors decide to take in the 2020 NBA Draft, they will likely add an intriguing talent to their roster. That’s all a team can ask for that will also be getting back Stephen Curry and Klay Thompson back into its lineup.
