Josh Hart recruiting intriguing free agent to New Orleans Pelicans

Josh Hart and the New Orleans Pelicans are entering a very intriguing offseason. With Zion Williamson, Brandon Ingram, Jrue Holiday, and Lonzo Ball, they have a very strong young nucleus. However, the Pelicans could look to make a big trade with some of their talent or dip into the free agency market.

On Twitter, Hart made it clear that there is one free agent that he wants to end up signing with the Pelicans. He has started his recruiting of Rajon Rondo.

Rondo put together a big-time performance in the playoffs for the Los Angeles Lakers. He was a big part of leading the franchise to an NBA Finals win over the Miami Heat. The experience he brings to the court could be valuable for the Pelicans.

During the 2019-20 NBA regular season, Rondo ended up averaging 7.1 points, 5.0 assists, and 3.0 rebounds per game. He averaged 8.9 points, 6.6 assists, and 4.3 rebounds in the playoffs.

At 34 years old, Rondo is entering the final stage of his prime. He may prefer to sign with a team that can offer him another chance to compete for a ring. Perhaps returning to the Lakers would be of interest to him.

Or, if he is interested in money and a starting role, the Pelicans could come into play. That would only be the case if they move on from Ball or Holiday. Both of those guys could be available this offseason.

There are going to be quite a few teams with interest in Rondo this offseason. His ability to create plays for teammates and defend will make him a valuable free agency target.

Expect to see Rajon Rondo receive quite a few offers. One might not come from the Pelicans, but Josh Hart certainly seems to think New Orleans should pursue him.
