Why the Lakers Should Do It
The Lakers face the possibility this offseason of seeing departures of Rondo, Kentavious Caldwell-Pope and JaVale McGee.
If Rondo in particular goes elsewhere, the Lakers need to fill the veteran point guard role and Derrick Rose fits the bill.
Rose has already played with LeBron James in the past, and he’d be an ideal fit to play alongside James or come off the bench.
The Lakers reportedly had interest in Rose last season, so they likely already believe he’d fit into their rotation in some capacity.
Rose, 32, will earn $7.6 million next season and he can be a free agent in 2021.
