The Hypothetical Trade

Lakers acquire Derrick Rose

Pistons acquire Kyle Kuzma, Avery Bradley*

This trade sees the Lakers part with Kyle Kuzma — one of their few tradable players — as well as Avery Bradley to acquire Rose.

Bradley’s inclusion in the deal is conditional. He has a $5 million player option and could elect free agency. But after he opted out of the NBA bubble, let’s briefly assume he opt’s in to his contract after a long lay off.

Bradley is the obvious caveat of the deal. But if he were to opt-out and become a free agent, one of the only ways the Lakers could acquire Rose to match his salary would be to part with Kuzma, Alex Caruso and Quinn Cook.

Los Angeles would rather part with Bradley if they can, so he’s in this hypothetical deal.
