Why It Makes Sense For The New York Knicks
If the Knicks were to make this move, it would seem likely that they would go for a guard. They need a long-term point guard and Tyrese Haliburton could be exactly the answer they have been looking to find.
Haliburton put together a big 2019-20 season with the Cyclones. He averaged 15.2 points per game to go along with 6.5 assists and 5.9 rebounds. In addition to those numbers, he shot 50.4 percent from the floor and 41.9 percent from the three-point line.
New York cannot afford to be safe anymore. If they want to get back into playoff contention, aggressive moves will need to be made.
With both Kevin Knox and R.J. Barrett being similar players, the Knicks are obviously going to go with Barrett. Bringing in a young point guard to form a duo with Barrett would make a lot of sense.
It has been a long time since the Knicks were contenders, but with the right moves they could get back to that level of play in the near future.
