The Detroit Pistons could be a landing spot for Gordon Hayward in the context of another veteran with an injury history, Blake Griffin.

If the Pistons look to move Griffin, the former No. 1 overall pick has enough left in the tank to help the Celtics next season. Boston’s front court could use an upgrade, which a healthy Griffin should be able to provide.

Hayward could head to a Pistons team with a young nucleus and an experienced head coach in Dwane Casey.

The hang up of this deal for the Celtics, is they’d have to be willing to take on an extra year of Griffin’s contract in comparison to Hayward. Even if Hayward stays in Boston, he’s only under contract through 2021.

Griffin, on the other hand, has a player option for 2021-22.
