Detroit Pistons
Another team that could offer Goran Dragic significant money, the Detroit Pistons, could be in play for Dragic. The Pistons have the third-most cap space available this offseason.
Derrick Rose shined in the starting five this season for the Pistons in 2019-20. He scored 18.1 points and 5.6 assists—the best marks for the former MVP in each category since 2011-12.
Entering the final year of a contract which will pay him $7.5 million next season, Rose could be used as a trade piece for the rebuilding Pistons. The Pistons could leverage Rose’s affordable contract in trade discussions as they try to land some young players and/or draft picks.
The Pistons could sign Dragic with the intention of dealing away Rose this offseason or ahead of next season’s trade deadline. If Dragic were to join Detroit, it’d be strictly for financial reasons.
