Why the 76ers Should Do It
Joel Embiid would not be an easy player to part with. That’s a given. But as always in trade, teams have to give up something of value, in order to get something of value in return.
This trade would bring Harden to Philadelphia to team up with Ben Simmons and company. Harden could come in and be the focal point of the offense, taking some of the pressure off of Simmons.
Part of the rationale for this trade for the Sixers involves the current construction of their roster. Al Horford is a veteran center. While he’s not Embiid, he can step in at center, as the focus of the offense shifts to the backcourt.
The ability to pair Harden with Simmons is the determining factor in this hypothetical for Philadelphia.
