The Kings seem to be set in the backcourt as they’re building around De’Aaron Fox. The Kings also have Buddy Hield, who has a contract extension that will begin next season.
But Hield has been the subject of trade rumors himself, and if new GM Monte McNair opts to move on from him, the Kings could make sense as a landing spot for Dennis Smith Jr.
In Sacramento, Smith Jr. could have an opportunity to flourish on a team that needs weapons.
The Kings are trying to snap their playoff drought, and Smith Jr. would represent a low-risk proposition that could pay off in a big way. And if it doesn’t, the Kings could move on.
