The Hornets lost Kemba Walker prior to last season, when he departed to join the Celtics.

Charlotte replaced Walker with Terry Rozier, but the Hornets’ first season in the post-Kemba Walker era was not exactly a success.

Charlotte won 23 games this past season, the ninth worst record in the NBA.

DeMar DeRozan could serve as a veteran guard with playoff experience on a relatively young team that includes Miles Bridges, Devonte’ Graham and Malik Monk.

When Walker left, it changed the trajectory of the Hornets for the foreseeable future. DeRozan alone wouldn’t provide all the changes Charlotte needs, but he could certainly be a good start to their offseason.
