Rationale for Miami Heat
The NBA Bubble has been a perfect showcase for Jimmy Butler and the Miami Heat to show off what they have built. Regardless of whether they end winning the NBA Finals or not, they will look to do what they can to reinforce their roster to pull off another impressive run next season.
The Heat face an interesting situation at the point guard position. Goran Dragic is set to became an unrestricted free agent and there will be a real market for his services. Miami would surely like to retain him.
If the Heat is unable to bring back Dragic, finding a serviceable replacement option will be a must. Derrick Rose would be able to get the job done. In fact, he could be an option as a sixth man even if Dragic were to return to the Heat in the offseason.
The ability Rose has displayed to get to the rim using ball screens is something the Heat would benefit from adding to their offense. If he were to continue filling a sixth man role, he’d essentially supercharge the offense for Miami’s bench unit.
Perhaps most beneficial of all from the Heat’s perspective is that Rose will be on an expiring deal next season. That’s an important detail for a team with hopes of pursuing a superstar next offseason.
