Unlike Oladipo next year, Russell Westbrook does not have free agency in his near future.
Westbrook would have to be acquired via trade, and the Houston Rockets could consider moving him after a disappointing end to their 2020 season.
Westbrook could be an ideal star alongside Butler, but Westbrook can take over a game at a moment’s notice if needed.
Last month, Jimmy Butler spoke to Sam Amick of The Athletic and shared his mentality on fielding a winning team.
“I will do anything that it takes to win, man,” Butler told Amick. “Like, I don’t want to have to come out and score 40. … I’ll shoot the ball twice as long as you guarantee me that we get a ‘dub.”
Westbrook can come in and score 40 if needed, and as we’ve seen, Butler can as well.
