Rationale for Indiana Pacers
The most logical outcome for the Indiana Pacers when it comes to their frontcourt situation is to move on from one of their centers. T.J. Warren played too well at the four spot to not slot in that spot next season.
There is still a need for the Pacers to determine who will be their next head coach. However, it’s possible the offensive scheme they want to run could benefit from having Domantas Sabonis manning the middle of a four-man offense— creating a pathway to move Myles Turner.
A likely option for the Pacers with the No. 2 pick in the NBA Draft would be Anthony Edwards. He would immediately make trading away Victor Oladipo an easy decision to make to sort out a potential backcourt logjam.
There may not be a better return for a small-market franchise than an NBA Draft prospect with an early selection like the No. 2 pick. The Pacers would have Edwards for his full rookie contract and be able to retain him as a restricted free agent when it expires.
Making a move for an early selection in the NBA Draft would be a great way for the Pacers to pivot from their current roster construction and better establish their future.
