Why the Pistons Should Do It
The Pistons are rebuilding, and typically a 31-year old coming off of knee surgery is not an ideal piece to build around.
By the time the Pistons hope to contend, Blake Griffin could be 33 or 34. This trade gives them a great young player in Adebayo, and the veteran experience of Iguodala and Olynyk.
Adebayo, at 23, is the type of player the Pistons can build around for years to come. It may be tough to part with the star power of a player such as Griffin, the former No. 1 overall pick, but depending on the return it is absolutely worth considering.
The Pistons put themselves on the map when they acquired Griffin, but the results simply are not there. It wouldn’t hurt for Detroit to at least consider a trade of Griffin in an effort to get younger.
