Why the Pacers Should Do It
The Pacers would have to part with Oladipo, which sounds likely at some point this offseason.
By sending him to the Bucks, the Pacers get back two guards who can play right away, plus a future first round pick.
The other way to make salaries match would be George Hill going to Indiana along with Brook Lopez instead of Eric Bledsoe. But the Bucks likely won’t do that, so in this version they send Bledsoe with Hill.
If Oladipo is going to force his way out of Indiana, this trade gives the Pacers an asset in a pick to build around, plus the veteran experience of both Bledsoe and Hill.
The Pacers will have a better idea of their vision for 2020 once a new head coach is hired. But with as much as Oladipo has surfaced in rumors, it wouldn’t be a surprise if he finds himself on a new team next season.
