Mavericks Receive: Buddy Hield

Kings Receive: Tim Hardaway Jr., 2020 1st Round Pick (No. 18)

The Mavericks and Kings would basically be swapping starting shooting guards with Sacramento being compensated with Dallas’ first-round pick in exchange for sending one of the NBA’s top high-volume 3-point shooters.

By using Tim Hardaway Jr. as the centerpiece of the trade, the Mavericks would be able to match salary enough to execute a deal. He is set to earn $18.9 million if he opts-in for his final-year player-option.

Buddy Hield will be entering the first year of his contract extension next season. He is set to earn $24.4 million in 2020-21, making there a sizeable gap in his salary cap hit when compared to Hardaway Jr.

It was a career renaissance for Hardaway Jr. with the Mavericks as he averaged 15.8 points and shot 39.8% from deep this season. Meanwhile, Hield averaged 19.2 points while converting on 39.4% of his attempts from deep.
