Indiana Pacers: Lonzo Ball, PG, New Orleans Pelicans
When Indiana has been mentioned in rumors lately, it centers around the possible departures of Myles Turner and/or Victor Oladipo.
What has not been discussed as much, is who the Pacers could target. Ball is part of the young core in New Orleans, having been dealt to the Pelicans in the blockbuster Anthony Davis trade to the Lakers.
However, the Pelicans missed the NBA Playoffs, and with Zion Williamson, Brandon Ingram and Ball in place, it cost Alvin Gentry his job. New Orleans has contacted former Clippers coach Doc Rivers, according to Marc J. Spears of Yahoo! Sports, in their search for a new coach.
Depending on the coach, Ball may or may not fit into the team’s long-term plans. Enter Indiana into the picture, where Ball could be the co-star to Malcolm Brogdon.
Indiana is in the midst of a coaching search of its own, so Ball would have to be a fit for the next coach there, too. But if the Pacers move on from Oladipo as many expect, a retooling of their backcourt will be in order.
