5. Charlotte Hornets
It has been a real struggle for the Hornets to consistently make it to the playoffs for quite some time now. There is a real need for the team to add skill-sets to the team that can provide a legitimate pathway to having one of the better units in the NBA.
Part of the issue has been failing to hit on draft choices. The Hornets had a chance to draft Turner in the 2015 NBA Draft, but instead, opted to go with Frank Kaminsky instead. That has proven to be a substantial flop for Charlotte, especially when considering they could have had Devin Booker instead, too.
The rim protection Turner provides could help elevate the floor of the Hornets’ defense substantially. No single player would turn Charlotte’s unit into an elite group on that end, but could at least add a more dynamic element while covering up other players’ mistakes.
The Hornets have a situation that would enable Turner to receive an expanded role on offense. If it turns out he can take his game to another level or two, Charlotte could benefit substantially from making this move as their defense would improve regardless.
