The Trade:

Lakers Receive: Russell Westbrook

Rockets Receive: Kyle Kuzma, Danny Green, Alex Caruso, 2020 First-Round Pick, 2022 First-Round Pick

Wow. This trade would be an absolute game-changer in the Western Conference. Both teams would be making major changes, but they could be the best possible move for both parties involved.

Westbrook heading to the Lakers makes sense, as the Lakers are looking to add more scoring around LeBron James and Anthony Davis. He would absolutely take pressure off of James. His shooting may not be great, but he can knock down open looks from the perimeter.

Being able to break down the defense made him so dangerous with the Oklahoma City Thunder and Rockets. That would be the same thing he would bring to the Lakers.

As for the Rockets, acquiring a young stretch forward in Kuzma and two solid wing depth pieces in Green and Caruso would make sense behind Harden. Adding two first-round picks in the process would be a major win for Houston.

There would be some concerns about Westbrook taking a backseat to both James and Davis. The Lakers will still utilize them as their top two weapons moving forward. However, if he embraces the role, it could be the move that puts the Lakers in dynasty territory.

Obviously, this trade may not even be discussed. But, if the Lakers want to add a third superstar, Westbrook might be the best option available.

Due to the lack of high-profile free agents, this offseason will be full of trade talks. Russell Westbrook is going to be mentioned in those talks. The Lakers being aggressive and acquiring Westbrook to play alongside LeBron James and Anthony Davis would be a surprise, but extremely exciting.
