NBA Trade Rumors: Myles Turner named a perfect trade target for Celtics

The Boston Celtics are one of the best teams in the NBA at this point in time. Led by Jayson Tatum, Kemba Walker, Jaylen Brown, and Marcus Smart, they have a lot of dynamic perimeter players, but they are missing something in the middle. Myles Turner could very well be the answer for Danny Ainge and company.

Turner has been connected to the Celtics in trade rumors for quite some time. In fact, he has been mentioned in trade rumors connected to quite a few different teams over the last couple of years.

Bleacher Report has named Turner as a perfect trade target for the Celtics this offseason. Here is their reasoning for Turner being an ideal fit for Boston.

If Jayson Tatum, Jaylen Brown and Gordon Hayward were funneling perimeter drivers toward Myles Turner, Boston’s defense could be even more daunting. Turner’s ability to pull bigs out of the paint on the other end would also open up driving lanes for those scorers.

Over the last couple of years, Turner has struggled to find his identity with the Pacers. Domantas Sabonis entered the starting lineup this year and it was clear that Indiana was not utilizing Turner correctly.

A trade to the Celtics could be exactly what Turner needs to reach his full potential.

During the 2019-20 NBA season with the Pacers, Turner ended up averaging 12.1 points per game to go along with 6.6 rebounds and 2.1 blocks. He shot 45.7 percent from the floor and knocked down 34.4 percent from the three-point line.

Turner is just 24 years old and would be a long-term fit for the Celtics. He has three years left on his contract after this season and his deal is very reasonable.

Expect to see quite a few trade rumors surrounding Myles Turner once again this offseason. The Celtics aren’t going to be the only team interested in acquiring him, but they could very well be the best fit.
