NBA Trade Rumors: Jrue Holiday named a perfect trade target for the Nets

The Brooklyn Nets could not be more excited about the 2020-21 NBA season. After injury issues plagued Kyrie Irving and Kevin Durant missed the entire 2019-20 season, the Nets could be looking to add another star to form a “Big Three.” Jrue Holiday might very well be their main trade target.

Holiday has been rumored to the Nets over the past week and the deal would make for a very intriguing fit. A back-court of Irving and Holiday might just work perfectly.

Bleacher Report certainly thinks that Holiday to Brooklyn is a perfect move. They gave some reasoning as to why the Nets should pursue a trade for Holiday.

New Orleans Pelicans guard Jrue Holiday could be a seamless fit. As a third option, he’d take some attention away from KD and Kyrie while getting more open shots than he’s had in years. Defensively, he’d spare Irving from difficult matchups.

During the 2019-20 NBA season with the New Orleans Pelicans, Holiday ended up averaging 19.1 points, 6.7 assists, and 4.8 rebounds per game. He shot 45.5 percent from the floor overall and 35.3 percent from three-point range.

As B/R mentioned, the biggest help the Nets would get from adding Holiday would be his defense. He truly is an elite NBA perimeter defender. That would go a long way towards helping the Nets make a run at the NBA Finals.

Offensively, he would not be asked to shoulder a huge load. He would be able to pick and choose when to be aggressive. Holiday isn’t a lethal three-point threat, but he can knock down open looks, which he would get a lot of with defenses focusing on Irving and Durant.

This move would make so much sense for the Nets. Acquiring him would not come cheap, but Brooklyn should see if they can get something done.

Expect to see quite a few teams show interest in Jrue Holiday this offseason. The Golden State Warriors are one team to keep an eye on. However, the Nets might just be the best potential landing spot for him.
