The Golden State Warriors haven’t been the same since the 2019 NBA Finals. Between the departure of Kevin Durant and the injuries to Stephen Curry and Klay Thompson, it was a struggle for them this season.
There is plenty of reason for optimism for the Warriors heading into next season. They have the No. 1 overall selection and all of their key players will be healthy once again.
For the teams that weren’t invited to the NBA bubble, they have been authorized to practice in their home markets. This marked Thompson’s first practice with the Warriors since his torn ACL injury.
It will be fascinating to see how the Warriors fare next season with Curry, Thompson, and whatever they do with the No. 2 pick. Golden State has a real chance to make a triumphant resurgence to reclaim their standing among the NBA’s best teams.
A lot has changed in just one season since the Warriors were last dominating the rest of the NBA. For starters, LeBron James now is teamed up with Anthony Davis, the Clippers formed a star duo in Kawhi Leonard and Paul George, and Luka Doncic is an MVP caliber talent.
It won’t be easy for the Golden State Warriors to get back to where they once were unless Klay Thompson can return to his pre-injury form. The Western Conference is as tough as ever and the “Splash Brothers” will be a key reason for that.
