It’s been a tough recent stretch for the Magic’s efforts to become more than just a fringe playoff contender. The torn ACL injury that Jonathan Isaac recently suffered is just the latest example of the factors that have negatively impacted Orlando.
The Magic took a chance on Markelle Fultz and he showed some intriguing flashes of potential. However, he’s not going to be impactful enough of a ball handler to lead Orlando to the playoffs in 2021, especially with Isaac sidelined for the whole season.
The odds of a team in the Eastern Conference making the playoffs with Russell Westbrook playing in an ultra-high usage role is favorable. If the Magic could still keep some of the more established veteran pieces on their roster
There are some young prospects the Magic have on their roster that haven’t quite taken the next step yet. In particular, Mo Bamba is still playing behind Nikola Vucevic and could appeal to the Rockets in a potential deal to provide an impact similar to what Clint Capela used to bring.
