3. Oklahoma City Thunder
The Oklahoma City Thunder surprised many this season and are still well in the mix to potentially upset the Houston Rockets in the first round of the NBA playoffs. Despite the success they’ve achieved, there’s still room to improve.
Perhaps the greatest weakness the Thunder have as a team is their spot-up shooting inefficiency. They produce just 0.968 PPP (24th) in these situations and account for 22.8% of their offensive possessions. Additionally, Oklahoma City lacks reliable shooting threats coming off screens and in transition, too.
A player like Buddy Hield would help the Thunder to improve in these areas. That will become especially important to have if Oklahoma City elects to sell high on Chris Paul after having such a rebound season. Even more so if Danilo Gallinari were to depart in free agency.
A backcourt pairing of Shai Gilgeous-Alexander and Hield would be intriguing for the Thunder as they continue to build. The former standout at the University of Oklahoma would help be a draw for local fans in addition to the sharpshooting he provides on the court.
