5. Orlando Magic
It’s clear that defense set the tone for the Orlando Magic en route to the final playoff spots in the Eastern Conference. That was despite being held back by a lack of high-level perimeter shooting throughout the course of the season–making pushing for a Buddy Hield trade a logical option.
Considering the injuries the Magic have dealt with, Evan Fournier spent roughly 46% of his minutes at small forward this season. That will not change next season considering the lengthy recovery time needed for Jonathan Isaac for a torn ACL injury.
There is always the possibility the Magic could make a change to their roster in the offseason not requiring Fournier to have to play small forward quite as often. Overall, there is going to be a need for a substantially improved offensive output to make up for Isaac’s absence on defense.
With the Magic not being typically a free agent destination, Hield already being signed to a contract extension should add appeal to this option. Fournier is set to become a free agent next offseason and Orlando would already have their sharpshooting two guard of the future in Hield.
