Reggie Jackson

The Los Angeles Lakers will need to fill a position that has given them problems in the last few years. Contrary to belief and their record, LeBron James and Anthony Davis have both been at their best when paired with a reliable ball-handler running the offense. This season, the Lakers are ranked 10th in assists and 11th in points scored.

Frank Vogel is running a great offense but with a player such as LeBron leading the team with 10.3 assists per game, there will need to change heading into the 2021 NBA season. One player that comes to mind is Reggie Jackson.

While Jackson has been an afterthought in terms of lead guards, he’s cheap and if given the proper minutes, he can still produce. His production has taken a dip since being traded to the Los Angeles Clippers but he’s also being used as a sixth man. While a starter with the Detroit Pistons, Jackson averaged 16.2 points and 5.6 assists while shooting .425 percent from the floor.

Jackson can create off the dribble, hit from deep (.337 percent), and is not a bad defensive player. The best part is, Jackson will come on the cheap end. This season, he’s being paid $734K at the age of 30. The Lakers would be wise to makis this investment for another championship run.
