The Grizzlies continue to slip up
Memphis have struggled since the resumption of play, going 0-4 while shooting just 43.5 percent from the field. Jaren Jackson Jr. will miss the remainder of the season as well after tearing his meniscus, so at this point, it’s not looking good for the Grizz who hold just a one-game lead over the Portland Trail Blazers.
Losing Jackson Jr. is a huge blow, considering he was averaging just over 25 points per game since the restart. On the season, he was putting up 17.4 a night, while forming one of the most electric young duos in the league with Morant.
The worst part for Taylor Jenkins’ team is this. They’re remaining four games are against numerous very good teams in Oklahoma City, Toronto, the Celtics, and the Bucks. It’s going to be an absolute uphill battle for them to hold eighth place when they’re up against such daunting opponents.
Worst case scenario, they’re in the play-in series. But if they can’t collect a couple wins in their remaining contests, Memphis could be on the outside looking in by the end of next week.
