Will Skinny Nikola Jokic Offer The Same Production?
Back in February, Nikola Jokic voiced that he lost around 25 pounds due to a new diet and intense exercise. During that month just before the league was shut down, the 7-footer was averaging 25.5 points, 10.0 rebounds, and 7.2 assists on 64 percent shooting from the field. Impressive numbers, to say the least, scoring five points more than his season average of 20.2 points.
But we all know that Jokic is a physical presence on the floor and a huge part of that has to do with his hefty stature. Will this new version be just as effective for the Nuggets? He entered the 2019-20 campaign at 284 pounds and now, he looks substantially lighter than that.
There’s no questioning that being quicker and more athletic will help most players on the hardwood, but with Jokic’s unique style of play where he uses his body a lot to outmuscle opponents or post up, it remains to be seen if his transformed look will prove to be beneficial.
If February was any indication, the Nuggets star should continue to drain buckets, dish out ridiculous assists, and body up defenders on a regular basis because after all, he’s still seven feet tall.
