RUMOR: Knicks, Nets interested in acquiring Zach LaVine

The Chicago Bulls may have some decisions to make this offseason, including a potential deal involving Zach LaVine. Should the talented shooting guard ask for a trade, there are two teams already showing interest. Those two teams are the New York Knicks and Brooklyn Nets.

According to a report from Ian Begley of SNYtv, the Knicks and Nets have already done some background work on LaVine in case a trade becomes available.

LaVine put together a solid 2019-20 campaign prior to the season being suspended due to the coronavirus. Unfortunately, they were nowhere near the playoff race, which left them out of the season re-start in Orlando.

During the 60 games he played this season with the Bulls, LaVine averaged 25.5 points per game to go along with 4.8 rebounds and 4.2 assists. He shot 45 percent from the floor overall and knocked down 38 percent of his three-point attempts.

At just 25 years old, LaVine will be of interest to quite a few teams. Whether that team is a current contender or a team building to get back into the playoffs, LaVine can help almost anyone who chooses to trade for him.

For the Knicks, they are in desperate need of finding more scoring. They have struck out on free agent after free agent in recent years. Adding a talent like LaVine would be wise if they get the chance to do so.

On the other hand, the Nets are a very intriguing potential destination. LaVine would join Kevin Durant and Kyrie Irving next season. It would be interesting to see how the trio worked together with all of them liking to have the ball in their hands.

Both the Knicks and Nets would provide LaVine with a better situation than he currently has with the Bulls. Chicago is no longer viewed as anything close to a contender. They have some good young talent, but won’t seriously compete for a few years at least.

It will be interesting to see what ends up happening with Zach LaVine this offseason. The Knicks and Nets are going to try to make a move for him, but the Bulls may choose to hold onto him for the final two years of his contract.

Expect to hear plenty of rumors surrounding LaVine, and we likely haven’t heard the last of the rumors connecting him to the Knicks and Nets.
